Yellow highlighter pen that won't smear black inkjet printer ink?

I have a HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer-Scanner-Copier, and right now have HP Color Inkjet paper in it. When I print out a page of black text, when I try to highlight anything, the ink smears a lot and leaves a lot of black on the tip of the highlighter. I've tried a Bic brite liner, a Sanford Pocket Accent, and a thick one which has no name left on it. Same problem with all of them. Is there a highlighter that won't do this? Or is the problem with the type of paper or printer ink? Thanks!Yellow highlighter pen that won't smear black inkjet printer ink?
Most inkjet inks are water-based. So they will all smear to a certain extent. Changing highlighters will not really solve your problem... you may be lucky and get one that smears less but dont count on it.

If you really need to highlight stuff, then laserjet or photocopied black is the way to go because the toner is fused onto the paper and they wont smear.Yellow highlighter pen that won't smear black inkjet printer ink?
You are pretty much screwed on this one, as mentioned before Ink is almost always water based. I would recommend going to a stationary store and seeing if they have an alcohol based hi lighter, if that fails find a different means of highlighting like underlining.
