What is the best and cheapest inkjet printer to buy . and refill inks.?

Best and cheapest dont go together. What's cheap often isnt good. I recommend Epson cx series scanner/copier/printer (cx7400/cx8400) because of the print quality and the warranty. For a year Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one. Ink cartridges are expensive, but you can get cheap replacements for $5 which work well here http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp

You can find the printers at buy.com, usually in the $60-$70 range BEFORE rebates, if any. What is the best and cheapest inkjet printer to buy . and refill inks.?
Kodak makes a printer that takes very cheap refills but don't expect the highest quality. I prefer HP but I do not ever use refilled cartridges.

Would any inkjet still work printing b&w copies when the color inks are out?

It depends on the printer. My older printer would continue to print with one color empty. My new one won't.Would any inkjet still work printing b%26amp;w copies when the color inks are out?
For best results, make a copy of the original, color image and then convert the copy to grayscale.

That way, the printer will only use the black cartridge as it's ink source. If you try to print a color image, with missing inks, IF the printer even works, at all, it will just leave blank areas where the missing inks would have gone.

Ink jet printers are not water proof. You need to buy a laser printer if you want no blurring.
You can get this information from a printer speliciast or from a persion who refill the ink.

Why would ink come out of the top of printer cartridges in an inkjet printer?

I have a brother MFC-210 C all in one printer. It seemed to be working alright but I found the colors were dull and appeared to be almost in black and white. One day I tried to print and the printer spat out an error message on its LCD. It notified me that I needed to install the black ink cartridge. I was rather perplexed because it's obviously installed. I opened the cover to find a puddle of ink on top of all 4 ink cartridges. They have never been refilled and they are the correct type for the printer. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Why would ink come out of the top of printer cartridges in an inkjet printer?
The ink cartage was defective. I work in IT and see this type of problem all the time. If the ink is leaking from the top then who ever manufactured the ink cartage didn't install the plug properly. If you still have the orignal bill where you bought the ink form, try returning the cartage and explain to them what happened. Or you can try to contact the manufacture directly.

  • I have an inkjet printer. Does leaving it on all the time hurt it or possibly dry up the ink?

    It doesnot hurt it

It will not dry up if you didnot have it re-filled before. If it is the genuine cartridge, it will not dry up

PeaceI have an inkjet printer. Does leaving it on all the time hurt it or possibly dry up the ink?
doesn't matter if its on or off .. the cartridges dry out from the nosle part. That doesnt mean it will waste your ink, but it does mean that it won't print because the nosle is dry.

So, what you have to do when you want to print after a long inactivity, you need to take the cartridge out , wetten a napkin, and gently wipe the nossle a couple time untill the napkin got inked .. then you put it back.

Note: this concerns only to the cartridges that have the nossle ON them (and not on the printer instead).

About leaving it on, most of the printers have power saving options .. go to your ';control panel';, then ';printers';, and go to that printer's options, in the options try to find if there is something like ';stand by after xxx minutes';, and turn that future on .. that's a good thing, your printer is always off unless you want to print somethingI have an inkjet printer. Does leaving it on all the time hurt it or possibly dry up the ink?
yep they dry out....try printing at least a test pg once/twice a month.
I heard that you should print something once a week.
    No.
not leaving it on...but leaving it off in a dry place can dry up
No, but it will waste electricity. Why don't you just turn it off?
Ink cartridges will dry up if you don't use them regularly. My printer turns on and off with the computer. See if yours has that feature.
    Nope.

Is there an inkjet printer that doesn't have the ink dry up?

I use my inkjet printer every couple of months. When I let it sit too long the cartridge nozzles dry up. Cleaning the nozzles makes no difference with every inkjet I've ever owned.

Other than buying a laser printer (I need color. I do a lot of graphics work.) Yes I know they have color laser. Not the same and way too pricey.

Is there a inkjet printer where the ink doesn't dry up if you leave it sit too long?Is there an inkjet printer that doesn't have the ink dry up?
My Kodak inkjet printer has never dried up, even when left unused for long periods of time. The ink sells for about half of everybody else's also. I have been very satisfied. Walmart has them.

    Additl details:

Any Kodak printer will do well when left long periods of time between uses. You must leave it plugged in, not necesarily on as it does maintanance on the print head for you. ANy model is good. I have a model 5300. The latest, the ESP-3 is very nice also. Available at wal mart, circuit city, Kodak on line etc. I think I saws it last week at Wal-mart for something like $89. The ink refills are under $15 for color and under $10 for black. I have to admit, the pigmented ink they use really looks lab quality in my pix.Is there an inkjet printer that doesn't have the ink dry up?
Look for one that has a good tight storage container for the print cartridge

They all dry out because of the necessary chemicals in the ink.

    Remove it and store it

UK - Which ink cartridges has anybody refilled successfully themselves using the jet tec kit or jr inkjet.?

NO! they are messy and never as good quality as the original. Buy refilled off ebay they are cheap and goodUK - Which ink cartridges has anybody refilled successfully themselves using the jet tec kit or jr inkjet.?
I refill my black ink all the time,Had problems with colours though i just buy recycled ones.UK - Which ink cartridges has anybody refilled successfully themselves using the jet tec kit or jr inkjet.?
i think it is better to just buy a new set.
I tried it on my Xerox Docuprint C8, it sort of worked....... except some cartridges wouldn't seat properly %26amp; rattled + couldn't get anything to print properly unless it was all in Cyan (blue).......... in the end I had to fork out 拢70 for a new printhead + new pukka cartridges to get the sodding thing to work again beginning of last year........ however the entire printer self-destructed Friday lunchtime (least it gave me an excuse to buy an Epson RX4000 multifunction scanner/printer off Amazon for not much more than the old printer cost me 6yrs ago).

They also kinda leaked, since refilling involves drilling a hole in the cartridge, and plugging it up with a little rubber plug.

Much cheaper %26amp; better off using non Original equipment cartridges bought off eBay that trying to refill them yourself if you want to save money on ink.
I tried doing it once and seemed to finish up with more ink on my hands than in the cartridges.

Also, the quality of ink output, gumming up etc was too high to be acceptable, so I finished up throwing them out and getting new ones anyway.
I';ve refilled h-p 56 and 57 4 times each with great success! An airtight seal must be placed over the fill holes or the flow is compromised! Like everything else- it must be done properly! And I have no mess!!!

Store an inkjet printer: How can I stop the ink drying up if I put it away for a while?

    Hi all

I've just been bought a new printer and other stuff. The ';engineer'; delivered it all, , took it out the box, set it up, did a test print etc all as part of the service and it was al done before I could say ';stop!';.

I've already got a printer on the go, with about 拢50 worth of ink to use up before I through it out and use the new one!

How can I pack it all away again, without risking the ink drying up and damaging the printer?Store an inkjet printer: How can I stop the ink drying up if I put it away for a while?
You do not need to store it. It won;t dry up either. As one poster pointed out, th eink may dry on the ink head if you remove it and damage the ink head.

Just put a tight plastic over the printer so the air doesn't get to it in long-term.Store an inkjet printer: How can I stop the ink drying up if I put it away for a while?
The ziploc bag may help save the cartridges but I'm afraid unless you leave the printer on, the ink which is already in the print head will harden and you can kiss your printer goodbye. This happened to my sister's brand new Canon. She went away for the summer and it was dead when she came back because the heads were clogged. Fortunately it was under warranty. The technician told her to always leave the printer on. It takes very little power and every once in a while it bubbles the ink so it doesn't harden.
All you need is a Ziploc bag for storage and a moist paper towel to throw in there.

Does the HP Business Inkjet 1200 (not 1200 C) use heat? (ink jet printer)?

No it doesn't ones that do are better for some reason and they cost more.Does the HP Business Inkjet 1200 (not 1200 C) use heat? (ink jet printer)?
    no it uses ink.

unless it's some kind of steam powered printer.Does the HP Business Inkjet 1200 (not 1200 C) use heat? (ink jet printer)?
No, only laser printers use heat.
All HP ink jet printers are use sublimation to disperse ink so yes.

Business Inkjet 1100 printer says ';out of black ink';, when I replace the cartridge it still won't print. Why?

I have a Business Inkjet 1100 printer. It says ';out of black ink';, but when I replace a fresh cartridge it prints only the first line and then gives me the same message ';out of black ink... replace cartridge';. I know it prints because I was able to print a Configuration Page. I did the recommended steps for printer head cleaning by holding down the power button and pushing the red ';X'; button twice. When I called HP they wanted to charge me 40 bucks for tech support, which I thought was BS. Or, they wanted to give me a discount on a new printer. Even though my printer is 6 years old it's practically new. I mean I've only printed maybe a 1000 pages (which is nothing)

Please help... Thank you in advance:)Business Inkjet 1100 printer says ';out of black ink';, when I replace the cartridge it still won't print. Why?

Print heads clogged. Go to http://www.inkproducts.com/ink-store/, and look for their Cleaning Kit, it's easy to use and cheap. Then look for a CISS for your printer. It will save you TONS of MONEY, never change a cartridge again and it will pay for itself in a month.

My best advice will be to keep looking for deals on Dell printers on their website; You are bound to find a deal sometime soon [anything between 2 days - 4 weeks]. I start looking for deals when my printer catridges are about to die. Normally I find deals like 拢10-20 for a new 12-month warranty Inkjet based printer with very decent print results. Lasts me about 4-6 months with roughly 10-20 mixed printouts a week. I think this is pretty cheap than sticking with one printer and keep buying catridges every 6 months. ;)

Regarding what was said about Lexmark printers, yes...Dell printers are really aftermarket Lexmarks...however, the cartridge has subtle differences that will not allow the Lexmark cartridge to fit in the Dell print carriage.
Most of Dell's printers are made for them by Lexmark. Check a place like Wal-Mart ... Staples is good too. They both have a pretty large selection of generic ink cartridges. Wal-Mart also has a catalog of printers and cartridges in the store that may be able to cross-match your Dell to a Lexmark or a generic ... check it out. You can also buy an ink refill kit for the cartridge you have. I do it all the time for a Canon I have. My other printer is an Epson ... I get its cartridges locally when they're on sale or on-line from Epson when they're not!
To my knowledge there are no compatibles, the reason that they give those printers away or sell them for cheap. The money's made on their cartridges. Quite a swindling, eh?

Edit: this site claims to have compatible cartridges: http://www.4inkjets.com/Dell,10,manufact鈥?/a>
if you have Dell printer,,,you can only use Dell products
Honestly, I don't want to disappoint you, but the truth is that Dell printers are the ONLY ones who sell Dell ink cartridges. I agree with you in that they are very expensive. I've own Dells for about 22 years already because I get Education discounts, and they've been very supportive and dependable. I purchase the Value Packs. Dell even sends me self-addressed envelopes, so I can return and recycle their ink cartridges; but I don't. What I do is take them to Staples, and I get a $3 coupon for each cartridge. I add the coupons until I have enough to buy copy paper for the Dell printer! Either that, or research for a new printer. Good luck!
Ok I have the same printer and the cartriges you want to get are the Lexmark number 26 or 27 for color and 16 or 17 for the black I use 27 for color and 17 for the black and theywork great!! and a lot cheaper than the Dell cartriges color $20.99 and black $20.49 at Walmart.
