What is the best and cheapest inkjet printer to buy . and refill inks.?

Best and cheapest dont go together. What's cheap often isnt good. I recommend Epson cx series scanner/copier/printer (cx7400/cx8400) because of the print quality and the warranty. For a year Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one. Ink cartridges are expensive, but you can get cheap replacements for $5 which work well here http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp

You can find the printers at buy.com, usually in the $60-$70 range BEFORE rebates, if any. What is the best and cheapest inkjet printer to buy . and refill inks.?
Kodak makes a printer that takes very cheap refills but don't expect the highest quality. I prefer HP but I do not ever use refilled cartridges.

Would any inkjet still work printing b&w copies when the color inks are out?

It depends on the printer. My older printer would continue to print with one color empty. My new one won't.Would any inkjet still work printing b%26amp;w copies when the color inks are out?
For best results, make a copy of the original, color image and then convert the copy to grayscale.

That way, the printer will only use the black cartridge as it's ink source. If you try to print a color image, with missing inks, IF the printer even works, at all, it will just leave blank areas where the missing inks would have gone.

Why would ink come out of the top of printer cartridges in an inkjet printer?

I have a brother MFC-210 C all in one printer. It seemed to be working alright but I found the colors were dull and appeared to be almost in black and white. One day I tried to print and the printer spat out an error message on its LCD. It notified me that I needed to install the black ink cartridge. I was rather perplexed because it's obviously installed. I opened the cover to find a puddle of ink on top of all 4 ink cartridges. They have never been refilled and they are the correct type for the printer. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Why would ink come out of the top of printer cartridges in an inkjet printer?
The ink cartage was defective. I work in IT and see this type of problem all the time. If the ink is leaking from the top then who ever manufactured the ink cartage didn't install the plug properly. If you still have the orignal bill where you bought the ink form, try returning the cartage and explain to them what happened. Or you can try to contact the manufacture directly.

  • I have an inkjet printer. Does leaving it on all the time hurt it or possibly dry up the ink?

    It doesnot hurt it

It will not dry up if you didnot have it re-filled before. If it is the genuine cartridge, it will not dry up

PeaceI have an inkjet printer. Does leaving it on all the time hurt it or possibly dry up the ink?
doesn't matter if its on or off .. the cartridges dry out from the nosle part. That doesnt mean it will waste your ink, but it does mean that it won't print because the nosle is dry.

So, what you have to do when you want to print after a long inactivity, you need to take the cartridge out , wetten a napkin, and gently wipe the nossle a couple time untill the napkin got inked .. then you put it back.

Note: this concerns only to the cartridges that have the nossle ON them (and not on the printer instead).

About leaving it on, most of the printers have power saving options .. go to your ';control panel';, then ';printers';, and go to that printer's options, in the options try to find if there is something like ';stand by after xxx minutes';, and turn that future on .. that's a good thing, your printer is always off unless you want to print somethingI have an inkjet printer. yep they dry out....try printing at least a test pg once/twice a month.
I heard that you should print something once a week.
    No.
not leaving it on...but leaving it off in a dry place can dry up
No, but it will waste electricity. Why don't you just turn it off?
Ink cartridges will dry up if you don't use them regularly. My printer turns on and off with the computer. See if yours has that feature.
    Nope.
