What is better inkjet or lazerjet and which one wastes less ink?

Inkjet and Laserjet is two totally different type of printer. Inkjet use liquid ink and laserjet use carbon toner to print.

Printing cost wise, Laserjet can print at least 1000 pages per toner cartridge (Black %26amp; White printing), Inkjet will probably print maximum 200 pages per set of ink cartridge (Mixed color printing). But if you compare color Inkjet with color Laserjet, the price of the color toner will freak you off.

Anyway, suggest you to buy 2 printer, Inkjet for photo/image printing and Laser for text printing. And for color Laser printer, I think only graphic specialist will need that. What is better inkjet or lazerjet and which one wastes less ink?
It really depends on your needs. You need to answer a few questions about how you will be using the printer:

How much printing do you do (quite a bit, occasionally)?

What kind of printing do you do (photos, color brochures, business proposal, black ink only)?

Do you want color or black (most inkjet printers come standard as color now, and the majority of laser are headed that direction also)?

Do you want an all-in-one multifunctional machine (do you want it to print, scan, copy and fax)?

What’s your budget?

The major difference between inkjet printers and toner printers that most consumers should focus on are the cartridges used in the machine and the page yields the cartridges provide (yield is a term the manufactures use to qualify how many pages the cartridge will print on a average 5% page coverage before it runs out). Inkjets take a small “ink” cartridge with actual liquid ink. The Laser printers take “toner” cartridges with a super fine color powder. The inkjet printers and “ink” cartridges are much cheaper than the laser printers and “toner” cartridges. However, don’t let the higher upfront price on the printer and cartridges turn you away from the laser. Laser printer prices are coming down. An inkjet cartridge will traditionally have 400-600 page yields, where the laser printers will carry any where from 2,500-20,000+ page yields. So over time if you do a lot of printing and you use an Inkjet you’ll be constantly purchasing cartridges for the machine. Where if you use a laser printer you’ll pay a higher initial price for the cartridge but save money over time because you’re not constantly spending $25-35 every week, month etc. Laser toner cartridges can also be recylced and you can purchase like new remanufactured (recycled) cartridges for a cheaper price.

The laser printer is going to print faster and quieter, and take a lot less maintenance and service in the long run. The one thing the inkjet printer has over the laser printer is photos. So far, ink creates the best quality photos; however it also takes a lot of ink to print the photos causing the need to replace the cartridges. What is better inkjet or lazerjet and which one wastes less ink?
LasetJet is more expensive to acquire but it can take upto a year for the ink to run out. Inkjet printers are cheaper but inks can run out within 2-3 months. I would prefer the LaserJet.

However, how long it takes for your ink to be consumed will depend on how you use it. Naturally if you use your ink for graphics-intensive tasks, inkjet printers can be consumed very quickly as compared to mostly text-based work.
