No it will not solve it on its own. The problem is the printer needs to be given a code to reset it when once the waste ink tank full message appears and the waste tank has been replaced. Without resetting it it still will not print. Each model will have a separate code and that is why the message usually says to call for a service. They will not give you the code as there is good money in it for them to do it themselves. There are some models' codes on the Internet but as you did not state the model I could not try to find one that would help. Without the reset I am afraid it will not budge.

That is the waste pad basically. It just a felt sponge that sits right underneath the priting mech. You need to reset that 'felt pad' counter. I don't exactly know how to do it for a Canon printer, but I know how to do it for an Epson printer. You may want to research on Google for
'Waste Counter Reset Canon.'

When you will fulfill the requirement to change the ink absorber then printer must print.
