I have a printer cartridge (for inkjet) that is nowhere near out of ink, but isn't printing?

it hasn't been used in a few months (I rarely print anything). Is there anything I can do to clean it or to make it start printing?I have a printer cartridge (for inkjet) that is nowhere near out of ink, but isn't printing?
Here's something I've been repeatedly told not to do, but I've done and it works:

I take a Q-tip and dip it in rubbing alcohol, and swab the ink surface of the cartridge, as well as the point of contact in the printer. Then I print a few pages of type, each page comes out progressively better.

A printer should be used at least once weekly, or it dries up on you.

EDIT:

Oops, I see Master L already has suggested this. In any case, it should work. But remember, use your printer frequently. Even if it's just to use for a very little bit of print at a time.I have a printer cartridge (for inkjet) that is nowhere near out of ink, but isn't printing?
Awww, thanks :) Report Abuse

Try lineing your ink and if it dose when you go to the printer there is a few things you have to do before it prints. Or it could be your plugged the cables in wrong. Or you need to have it checked out.
a warm wet paper towel on caratge for a few seconds, U will C the ink then dry it %26amp; put it back in.
Printers have their own built-in cleaning functions -- you should refer to the printer's manual to find out how to start the cleaning process on your particular printer.

If you haven't used it in a few months, chances are very good that the printer heads need to be cleaned.
turn it on and press ctrl+p, preference, maintenance
The print cartridge for an inkjet printer is usually also the print head, and it might have some dried or sludgy ink clogging its nozzles.

You could try taking the cartridge out and dipping it in a saucer with a little isopropyl rubbing alcohol, then carefully brush the print surface (where the ';jets'; meet the paper) with a Q-tip or paper towel, and reinsert the cartridge (be careful, the ink stains like a mofo).

If that doesn't help, you could see whether anyone does cartridge refills in your area (local Walgreens has started doing this); they may be able to unclog as well as refill cartridges.
